Inventec Accelerates AI Visual Inspection for Smart Manufacturing with NVIDIA
Taipei, Taiwan, June 2026
AI-generated synthetic defect data reduces barriers and time for factory AI inspection
Inventec showcased its latest AI smart manufacturing innovations at COMPUTEX 2026. Its Observation Agent Solution now uses NVIDIA Defect Image Generation skill to integrate NVIDIA Cosmos open world foundation models and NVIDIA TAO model fine-tuning libraries to support AI visual inspection workflows with synthetic defect data generation.
Manufacturing AI Challenge: The Defect Data Gap
As manufacturing yield rates continue to improve, real defect samples are becoming increasingly difficult to collect. This creates a major challenge for AI visual inspection deployment in industries such as notebook PCs, PCBs, and metal processing. Manufacturers often spend significant time collecting abnormal data and manually labeling defects before AI models can be trained and validated.
Observation Agent Builds Synthetic Defect Data Pipelines
To address this challenge, Inventec’s Observation Agent uses NVIDIA Defect Image Generation skill powered by NVIDIA Cosmos and TAO to build an automated synthetic defect image generation pipeline. The solution can generate highly realistic scratches, defects, and abnormal images across materials such as PCBs and metals for AI-powered Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) model training. Compared with traditional inspection workflows, the solution helps manufacturers establish AI inspection readiness earlier.
Inventec has validated the technology by applying it to cosmetic defect inspection on laptops, generating more than 10,000 synthetic defect images and validating the consistency between synthetic and real defect data. According to Inventec’s internal validation results, NVIDIA Defect Image Generation skill has the potential to reduce data collection and manual labeling efforts by approximately 30%, shorten AI deployment time by around 25%, and improve anomaly detection capability by approximately 10%, further enhancing AI model stability and accuracy in real manufacturing environments.
Observation Agent Expands Manufacturing Intelligence
Beyond synthetic defect data generation, Observation Agent also integrates AI visual inspection, heatmap visualization, OT/IT system integration, AI image recognition, and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to help manufacturers identify abnormalities and potential issues in real time, improving production stability and quality management efficiency.
Inventec stated that it will continue collaborating with the NVIDIA ecosystem to advance generative AI, Vision AI, and Physical AI technologies for next-generation smart manufacturing.
